Our Company
Affirma Consulting Inc. (ACI) is a local, registered consulting firm that offers environmental, biological, and socioeconomic research, assessments and monitoring to inform management and policy. ACI’s work is primarily focused on independent environmental, biodiversity, ecological, livelihoods, and ecosystem services assessments which include marine, estuarine, freshwater and terrestrial ecosystems to address decision-making, planning, policy and strategy regarding conservation, sustainable development, resource allocation and management, and climate change.
Our team of biologists and environmental scientists take pride in our ability to see bigger pictures, simplify complex problems and to provide rational and pragmatic solutions.
Our Mission
To proficiently incorporate expert knowledge of environmental, biological, and social ecosystems to provide consulting services aligned with laws and legislation for strategic management aimed at enhancing sustainability.
Our Founder
Leanna Kalicharan, B.Sc., M.Sc., M.A., DipEd, founded Affirma Consulting Inc. after completing a M.Sc. in Natural Resource & Environmental Management specializing in Coastal & Marine Resource Management from UWI-CaveHill campus, Barbados, and has over a decade of experience in research and conservation biology, fisheries and coastal and marine resource management.
She also holds a M.A. in Educational Leadership and is PhD candidate (Education). Leanna has published over 10 peer-reviewed papers in biological, fisheries and ecological disciplines and has produced several technical reports.
